RTO launches 4day drive against overloading

The regional transport office (RTO) has taken up a four-day drive against overloaded vehicles in the district from Wednesday. Senior officials said that three RTO squads would be moving around the district to keep a check on overloaded vehicles and impose a fine.
Senior officials said that three RTO squads would be moving around the district to keep a check on overloaded vehicles and impose a fine. Officials said that overloaded vehicles not only damage the road but the drivers are also not able to control their vehicles.
There have been many accidents on the highways due to overloaded trucks. The RTO has received guidelines from the state transport office to lodge police complaints against truck drivers carrying more goods than the permitted limit under the provisions of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984.
